Background of Franco Casco's Case
On July 18, 2023, the body of 20-year-old Franco Casco was discovered in the waters of the Paraná River. His disappearance in October 2014 had sparked a lengthy investigation and trial involving 19 police officers accused of involuntary manslaughter.
The Trial and Sentencing
Following a trial that commenced in December 2021, the verdict is expected on this Tuesday. The 19 officers have been charged with forced disappearance followed by death, in relation to Franco Casco's detention at the Rosario police station.
The prosecution alleges that on October 6, 2014, Casco was planning to return home when he was apprehended. After being held at the police station, his body was later found in the river.
