2024 French Election Results: Macron's Ensemble Wins Majority in National Assembly

In a snap election called last month, French voters elected members of the country's National Assembly. According to the Interior Ministry's final results, turnout was a robust 66.63%. On Sunday, July 7, 577 members were chosen for a body that has the power to frame laws and oversee the government.

President Emmanuel Macron's Ensemble coalition emerged victorious, taking the majority of seats in the Assembly. This will be Macron's first parliamentary majority during the five years of his presidency. The Ensemble coalition is a centrist alliance that includes Macron's La République En Marche, the Democratic Movement, and Horizons.

Macron's victory is seen as a vote of confidence in his leadership and policies. However, the National Assembly will be more fragmented than in the past, with a total of nine different parties represented. This could make it more difficult for Macron to pass legislation and implement his agenda.
