Young Doesn't Believe Shoulder Injury Is Serious; Brzykcy Optioned to Triple-A

Young downplays shoulder injury

Lucas Giolito missed a scheduled start Tuesday with a mild right shoulder strain, and Mike Clevinger left his start Wednesday after three innings with right biceps tendinitis. Now, another member of the White Sox's young starting rotation is dealing with a shoulder issue.

Right-hander Dane Dunning exited his start against the Twins on Thursday after 4 1/3 innings due to right shoulder impingement. Dunning allowed four runs on six hits and two walks, and he struck out six. He threw 77 pitches, 52 for strikes.

Dunning said after the game that he doesn't believe the injury is serious. "It's just kind of one of those things that's been nagging me a little bit," he said. "I think it's just something that I've got to kind of work through and get through it."

Brzykcy optioned to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned right-handed reliever Zack Brzykcy to Triple-A Charlotte following Thursday's game. Brzykcy had been recalled from Charlotte on May 19 and made two appearances for the White Sox, allowing one run on two hits and two walks in 2 1/3 innings.

The move opens up a spot on the White Sox's 26-man roster for right-hander Reynaldo López, who is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list and start Saturday's game against the Cubs.
